The general view is that comments on your blog is a bad thing, most tend not to use them. I do notice a bit of a resurgence, perhaps the general turn off from the traditional social media outlets like X means that people now what the conversations on their blog to be held by them, not some faceless (and rather profit hungry) corporation.
I think this is a good thing, sovereignty over your posts and the conversation that comes from them. Perhaps there will be a day when traditional social media is an aggregator of commentary across blogs, rather than trying to ‘own’ absolutely all conversation on the internet.
So, my comments for all posts have been turned on, there will be a mix of traditional comments and those coming through the ActivityPub plugin I have been trying. No idea how these will mix together – I suspect some faff whilst I try and work out what is going on so please bear with me. Also if you see anything slightly (or massively) weird then please let me know.
Yes I have turned on a spam plugin to prevent to inevitable noise, I am really looking forward to an interesting conversation around the things I natter on about 🙂
