trying ActivityPub

Going to have a go at utilising ActivityPub on this blog, it now becomes part of the fediverse.

I think this means that when I post new content it will be transmitted into the fediverse and others can follow through their tool of choice, mainly mastodon which is like a X/Bluesky but federated and without advertising or strange ownership challenges.

It will also mean that if people like or requite the post then it will show on the post (probably!), not sure what happens when people reply – I’ll find out if people reply to this post.

@mark edit: originally uploaded a gif and noticed it didn’t show up on the blog. Going to try a link https://media.tenor.com/5P-Wd1cZXt4AAAAM/skywalker-star-wars.gif

It does seem to take a while for the fediverse to federate. No idea whether you see this reply in your mastodon feed or app.

@mark yep, can see this from Mastodon!

I could see my original reply on your site, but it was empty. Then I tried pasting a link to see if the gif would show up that way, but that didn’t work either.

So it seems like file uploads in replies are unique to Mastodon, or it’s something that the WordPress/Fediverse integration doesn’t support, not sure which.
